Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) commissioned on Wednesday
18/7/2018, Al-Haidan electricity substation which feeds Al- Bayt stadium project.
The substation was successfully operated as part of the strategic plans that
aim to implement and develop electricity networks in order to serve the State’s
vital projects. Furthermore, this achievement came in line with Qatar receiving
the mantle of hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.
On this occasion, KAHRAMAA
President H.E. Eng. Essa Bin Hilal Al Kuwari, stated “the highest quality
standards were observed to complete Al Bayt stadium. All technical requirements
pertinent to the use of technology that ensures the continuity of electrical power
in emergency situations were adopted; and today, we celebrate the completion of
the fourth substation out of five electricity substations that are planned to
serve the stadiums of FIFA 2022 World Cup Qatar. Consequently, in conformity
with the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of
the State of Qatar and with the full support of our wise government, we
reiterate our commitment to complete all infrastructure projects on time.”
Furthermore, KAHRAMAA’s
main concern is to adopt and implement the highest standards of safety and
security in its activities and operations. Hence, all along the 15 months of
work on the project, with more than 780,000 work hours completed at Al-Haidan substation
which is part of the stadium project, without Lost Time Injury (LTI). As well,
the Corporation is committed to providing a safe and secure environment to the
staff working on its various projects in recognition of their role effective
role as partners in success, which positively affect productivity.
KAHRAMAA President
explained that the substation feeds Al Bayt stadium. It is part of the 11th
phase of Qatar Power Transmission System Expansion project and one of the five
main substations specified by KAHRAMAA for FIFA 2022 World Cup.The 132/11 kv,
80 MVA substation will be fed by Al Khor South and Semesma substations with 20
km long and 132 kv cable. The cost of establishing this substation with associated
works amounts to approximately QR 138 million.
As well, H.E. Eng.
Essa bin Hilal Kuwari said that the substation which is associated with Al Bayt
stadium observed the requirements of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and
Legacy, requiring an 80 MVA to meet the loads which are related to the
operation of the stadium and other facilities such as the main stadium,
training fields and others. He also emphasized that KAHRAMAA observed the
highest international standards and implemented them when completing the
substation construction plan according to the set time
H.E. Al-Kuwari added
that the world-famous company Siemens, delivered this substation and the cable
works. Various sub-works were entrusted to local companies. The Corporation accomplishes
work as planned. KAHRAMAA is working to provide the highest standards of
reliability and consistency in its electrical network based on the Supreme
Committee for Delivery and Legacy requirements for the substations.
Al Bayt stadium is
fed by Al-Haidan substation the fourth commissioned substation after Al-Jahaniya
3 substation which was commissioned last May, Mehairja substation commissioned in
May 2017 and which feeds Khalifa Stadium, Al-Wukair 1 commissioned in February
2018 which feeds Al Wakra stadium; as to the fifth substation that will feed
Ras Abu Aboud, it will be commissioned next year
