Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) won Qatar IT Business Award (2018) – 4th edition, smart environment solution category in recognition of the corporation’s project for detecting leakage and water loss control using smart technology solutions.
HE Minister of Transport and Communications, Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, presented the award to KAHRAMAA’s Information Technology Manger Eng. Amal Al-Mansoori. This came as part of Qatar IT Business Award 2018 ceremony held by the Ministry of Transport and Communications Tuesday evening 4/9/2018.
The award reflects KAHRAMAA’s keenness to take advantage of the state-of-the-art technologies and smart solutions to improve its networks, realize the potentials of its assets, conserve its resources, achieve financial surplus through water loss reduction and adopt an eco-friendly and sustainable approach in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The prestigious award adds up to KAHRAMAA’s track record in creativity and innovation, both of which serve as key components of the corporate performance development. This comes in the course of KAHRAMAA's effort to realize its vision of becoming a global benchmark for performance, technological innovation in the electricity and water sectors by 2030.
KAHRAMAA received this award for a joint project carried out by Department of Water Operation and Control Department - Water Networks Affairs Directorate and the Information Technology Department - Shared Services Directorate. The project involved procuring and installing GSM-enabled devices to detect water leaks on a permanent basis. The devices ensure real-time remote monitoring through a system that transmits, locates and sends information of audio and frequency recordings of leaks through GSM, thus enabling the joint use of the Internet and customized software.
The Qatar IT Business Award aims at encouraging innovative and leading IT entrepreneurs in the state, while highlighting their respective achievements and innovations. This year's award featured 167 competitors from 93 companies grouped into 14 categories of competition. The award jury comprises a selected team of independent IT and business experts, specialists and advisors, who supervise the evaluation process as per pre-defined criteria for each category.
