As part of its participation in the annual celebration
of Qatar National Day, which falls on December 18 of every year, Qatar General
Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) will be observing the Darb Al Saie
festivities through its newly designed KAHRAMAA Dome. A broad range of
fun-filled and educational activities for all age groups will be hosted under
the dome from December 12 to 20.
The design of KAHRAMAA Dome, which represents half a
drop of water, symbolizes one of KAHRAMAA's main areas of business. It also
emphasizes the importance of water in achieving sustainable development, and
the achievements of the water sector in the country.
Visitors of KAHRAMAA pavilion will be overwhelmed with
a wide array of activities and events throughout the corners of the dome. For
example, they can know about the history of the Corporation since the early
establishment of the Electricity and Water Ministry up to the KAHRAMAA
inception in 2000. Visitors will also know about the transformation that the
Corporation has caused in the electricity and water sectors, where it has successfully
managed to develop its services in line with the highest quality and efficiency
standards. The dome also features an "Engineer Section," where
visitors will find important information about the latest technologies in the
electricity and water sectors, a display for smart meters and the advanced
services it offers such as overloading or water leakage notifications,
workshops on electricity technology and a water pipe game.
In addition, the dome features a "Riddles Room,"
where visitors will have to correct wrong behaviors that lead to water waste
and excessive use of electricity to be allowed to exit the room. The dome also
features the "Green Car" section, where the public are
introduced to this significant initiative that helps preserve the environment,
reduce carbon emissions, diversify energy sources, and promote awareness of
sustainable transport and energy efficiency. Visitors will also be introduced
to the locations of the car charging stations. A "Green-Car Race"
will be held to acquaint KAHRAMAA dome visitors with the benefits of these
environment-friendly cars. This comes as part of KAHRAMAA's keenness to raise
awareness of ways to rationalize power consumption, reduce water waste and
preserve the environment in order to fulfil the goals of the
National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed)
launched in 2012.
The
KAHRAMAA dome provides practical experience for water quality testing, with an
introduction to the procedures and steps taken to supply water in the highest
quality standards. The KAHRAMAA-supplied water already exceeds the quality
standards set out by the World Health Organization (WHO).
It is worth mentioning
that KAHRAMAA takes part in the annual festivities of Darb Al Saie to emphasize the
importance of this national occasion and promote the values of loyalty and
belonging to the homeland. This year, KAHRAMAA will have a unique dome that
hosts several sections and educational and awareness activities.
