Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA managed to develop its electricity network in 2016 by constructing and energizing several substations to serve Qatar strategic projects at a total cost of exceeds QR 1.9 billion. It comes within KAHRAMAA mission of Providing High Quality and Sustainable Electricity and Water for Better Living in Qatar.
KAHRAMAA aims to cope with the urban expansion and provide electricity and water services to the strategic projects. KAHRAMAA manages, under the directives of KAHRAMAA President HE Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari, to execute its strategic plan for the development of the electricity infrastructure. 2016 witnessed the construction and energisation of several substations, cables, and Over Head Lines (OHL) at different areas to ensure the safety, service sustainability, and reliability of transmission and distribution networks.
In 2016, KAHRAMAA launched a number of electricity substations including a substation supplying the power to the new port at a total cost of QR 188 m.
In addition, KAHRAMAA managed to energize 2 substations 132 / 11 kv and associated cables to supply power to the prestigious Mall of Qatar and Doha Festival city at a total cost of 171 m.
Moreover, KAHRAMAA energized a number of substations to feed power to different vital development projects and authorities including Al-Gharrafa substation 132/66/11 kv at a total cost of QR 145 m., Lusail super substation 220/66/11 kv costing QR 134 m., and Al- Dhakhirah substation costing QR 67 m. in addition to other substations, cables, and OHL at different areas.
In 2016, KAHRAMAA managed to keep the high quality performance indicators of the electricity network. These strategic projects come within KAHRAMAA endeavor to achieve QNV 2030 and its role as a key partner in the development the State witnesses.
