7th Editions of Tarsheed’s Annual Contests

Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) has started receiving entries for its yearly Tarsheed competitions being organized as part of the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed).

 

Tarsheed has launched the seven contests, two of them for students, which are ‘Tarsheed Story Writing Competition’ and ‘Best Graduation Project for Energy Efficiency’. The other five contests are related to different sectors in State. The contests are ‘Best Sustainable Design Competition’, ‘Tarsheed Conserving Building Competition’, ‘Best Renewable Energy Initiative’, ‘Best Poster Design Competition’, ‘Best Performance for District Cooling System’. 

 

·        Tarsheed Story Writing Competition:

The National Program ‘Tarsheed’ invites schools’ students to participate in ‘Tarsheed Writing Story Competition, in its 3rd edition since its being launched in 2014, under the theme “Write a story about sustainability”. The competition aims at encouraging creative talents for the students in field of Short Story Literature, disseminating cultural and social values related to conservation and energy efficiency in the society especially schools, encouraging students to read and invest their energies in social development, utilizing literature to promote and deepen the concepts of national identity and supporting motivations related to social development.  

 

·        Best Graduation Project for Energy Efficiency:

The National Program ‘Tarsheed’ invites all students of engineering colleges in Qatar to participate in this competition, which has been launched for the first time, under the theme “Envisioning for Sustainable Future”.

 

·        Best Sustainable Design Competition:

Under the theme “Be part of a greener tomorrow”, this competition has launched to create awareness about the Building Design Conservation Concept for consulting offices and contactor companies. It also creates public awareness on the benefits of Building Design Conservation practices (energy, water), encourages people to embrace Energy Conservation strategies and motivates local construction market to adapt conservation practices. It’s worth mentioning that ‘Tarsheed’ has launched this competition for the second time since 2017.

 

·        Tarsheed Best Poster Design Competition:

How would you visualize Qatar moving towards a smart sustainable country by 2030 with the eyes of National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed”?

under the theme “Towards the future 2030”, Tarsheed has launched this competition under the theme “Towards the future 2030”, which aims at encouraging creative talents in the field of painting art, disseminating of cultural and community values of rationalization and consumption efficiency among members of society, utilizing art to promote and deepen the concept of national identity and sustainability. 

 

Tarsheed Conserving Building Competition:

Under the theme “Green from Ground Up”, this competition aims at creating awareness about the building conservation concept in all sectors of society, creating public awareness on the benefits of building conservation practices (energy, water). It also aims at mobilizing people and encourage them to embrace energy conservation strategies and motivating consumers to adopt building conservation practices in the local construction market. It’s worth mentioning that ‘Tarsheed Conserving Building’ is the main competition for Tarsheed and launched annually since 2013. This year, it includes six various sectors: residential, commercial, industrial, government, sports, hospitality.

 

·        Best Renewable Energy Initiative:

Tarsheed launches this competition annually since 2016.  This year’s competition, under the theme “Turn to Green Energy”, aims at encouraging all sectors of the country, residential and individuals are included, to provide the best initiative for Renewable Energy to promote energy efficiency and conserving resources of the State (electricity and water) for sustainable future. It also aims at reducing harmful carbon emissions’ rate by using renewable energy, which positively reflects in reducing environmental pollution. By implementing the previous objectives, National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency will attain Qatar Vision 2030 towards sustainable development for better living for all people living in this country.    

 

 

 

·        Best Performance Award for District Cooling System:

Under the theme of “District Cooling for Sustainable Qatar”, Tarsheed has launched this competition for the first time this year. It aims at promoting district cooling system in Qatar and ensure of its implementation to all required standards and specifications.  The National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency will award the winner for the best performance for district cooling system which reflects efficiency, reliability, flexibility and sustainability.

 

Interested parties can apply for the competitions via KAHRAMAA website km.qa/tarsheed  going through the terms and conditions for participating in these contests. The entry is already open and the deadline for receiving entries falls between March 17 and March 21, 2019. For more information, participants are requested to contact on mentioned numbers provided for each competition.

 

All contests have been designed to target each segments of the society to ensure the involvements of entire community in raising awareness about conservation and environment. KAHRAMAA is disseminating information pertaining to the contests through all its media and advertising channels including social media.

 

The entries will be evaluated in several phases by a panel of experts representing research centers, universities; ministries among others. Winners of the contests shall be honored during the upcoming 7th Tarsheed Annual Celebration scheduled to be held in April 2019.​
