​The role holder is responsible for providing all the necessary assistance required to execute the day to day transmission planning activities. This role will be responsible to undertake the necessary studies to analyse the system performance in order to ensure system integrity.

Core Responsibilities:

• Provides the necessary assistance as and when required, for supporting the transmission network planning activities in order to ensure alignment with master plan
• Undertakes studies and research to provide inputs to Senior Engineer-Transmission Planning on medium and long term power demand forecasts
• Consolidates the power and plant extension requirements of bulk consumers and liaises with Senior Engineer-Transmission Network Planning to take further action
• Conducts meetings with bulk consumers for Electrical power requirements for new/ extensions of their plants
• Assists Senior Engineer-Transmission Planning in development of proposals for network reinforcement and expansion in line with identified consumer requirements and master plan
• Conducts load flow studies, fault level studies and system stability studies to analyse and understand the performance of transmission systems
• Prepares and updates the relevant systems and databases with all necessary data and statistical information to facilitate easy reference to information
• Studies and analyses the interconnection with other networks and documents findings for analysis by Senior Engineer-Transmission Planning   
• Assists in proposing and seeking approval for new cable routes, substation site requirements etc.
• Studies and participates in techno-economic feasibility studies while ensuring adherence to established guidelines and protecting the interests of Kaharmaa at all times
• Develops all necessary reports pertaining to transmission networks (monthly, annual statistical reports, quarterly performance reports etc.) to track progress against agreed objectives
• Works in cooperation with Quality Assurance and Continual Improvement section on securing and maintain the ISO / Risk Management / ISMS certification.
• Carries out and ensures the compliance of all activities within the Department are in-line with Kahramaa health and safety regulations
  
  Self Management Responsibilites:
• Defines performance goals at the start of the year in discussion with the reporting manager and ensures that the goals are achieved during the course of the year
• Identifies the training and development requirements for self and agrees on them with the reporting manager to ensure that the required trainings are arranged and attended
