 1.       Who can apply for prepaid Service?

Re​sidential and Commercial customer meeting the following criteria's

    • Electricity Smart Meter is available at the premise
    • Only Electricity services is provided
    • Electric Meter Size <= 100 Amp
    • Current Postpaid account is settled

3.       What are the documents required?

  • QID / Company Registration
  • Ownership / Rental Agreement
  • Email address
  • Premise address
  • Mobile number

4.       Does Kahramaa charges different consumption rates between prepaid and postpaid?

​Kahramaa applies the same rates. 

5.       How to convert my account to prepaid and vice versa?

6.       Do I need to pay security deposit or meter cost for conversion from post-paid to pre-paid or for new connection installation?​D

Deposit is not required

7.       What happens if my prepaid balance runs out?

The minimum balance required to maintain services is QAR0.0.

Km will send an alert message when the balance reaches QAR20.

Customer can manage their alert thresholds using the Km Prepaid Application.

Kahramaa will disconnect electricity if prepaid balance is below Minimum balance limit QAR0.00 

8.       How much amount I can top up?

Any whole amount more than QAR 30 ( fractionss not allowed  )

11.    What happens if I convert from Postpaid to Prepaid account?

  • Customer will be given a final bill for post-paid on date of conversion
  • Deposit will be adjusted against the final bill.
  • Any remaining credit balance will be transferred to the Prepaid account 

12.    Is there any requirement to change the meter?

  • To be eligible for Prepaid, you must have smart meter installed at the premise. Meters change can only be requested by owners 

13.    Why consumer chooses to go with Prepaid services?

Prepaid service might be a good choice if you

    • Prefer to pay as you go.
    • Prefer not to pay a deposit.
    • Ok with not receiving a monthly paper bill
    • Reduce and monitor your energy usage 

14.    What fees I will be charged?

  • Consumption based on Km Electricity Tariff and
  • Monthly meter rental of QAR 5 

15.    What is Minimum Top up amount?

  • There is QAR 30 as minimum Top up amount.

19.    What is the maximum amount for the top-up?

  • Maximum is QAR 10000 . 

20.    What happens to my balance when I close my prepay account?

  • The remaining balance will not be returned to the customer  after the final consumption calculation 
21.    ​​​Can I to​p-up my account from out of country (in different currency using forex card or American Express Card)?
  • Only Qatari issued credit card can be used.
