Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA”,
represented by the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency
“Tarsheed”, organized today the third editions of its yearly Tarsheed Carnival
events at iconic KAHRAMAA Awareness Park (KAP).
The ten- day long events which will end up on 28th February
is being held under the theme “Less Today. More Tomorrow” will have
several activities, interactive sessions, theatre performances and competitions
among others based on conservation and energy efficiency theme, catering to all
segments of the society. It will also highlight all ongoing sustainability-
related projects in Qatar.
The carnival
will be held in two sessions. First session (8AM- 12 PM) will be exclusively
for students and afternoon session (4-9 PM) will be for general visitors.
The event is one of the important environmental awareness events being
organized in Qatar where both public and private sectors aspire and act
together to protect the precious environment and to help achieve Qatar National
Vision (QNV) 2030.
The Carnival is aimed at creating awareness among society about
protecting environment, preserving natural resources, reducing carbon dioxide
emissions, inculcating conservation and environment- friendly habits among
youths and all for better living.
This year Carnival is being sponsored by renowned entities. Qatar National
Bank (QNB) and Ooredoo are the Dimond Sponsors, Al Rayyan Satellite Channel is
the Gold sponsor and Qatar Airways and ConocoPhillips are the Silver sponsor of
the event.
The Carnival will also highlight the role
undertaken by the government and private sectors in protecting the environment
and for achieving sustainability goals such as the Ministry of Interior, Civil Defense
Department, Hamad International Airport (HIA), Qatar Olympic Committee, Al Sadd
Sports Club, Qatar Development Bank (QDB) represented by Bedaya Center,
Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (AMAN), Ehsan Center, Qatar Cool,
Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, Al Shahbana Environmental Association, Al
Dana Girls Center, Girls Creativity Center among others.
The Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) department of KAHRAMAA
contributes in promoting the national economy by
allocating places for coffee shops and restaurants being run by Qatari youths
to encourage their entrepreneurial activities.
